We buy any caravan — here is exactly what that means

We buy touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans outright, and we pay for them ourselves. Samco is the buyer. Your caravan is collected by our transporter, brought back to Bayley Street, and sold from our own forecourt.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A good number of caravan buying websites are not buyers at all — several state on their own pages that they work through a network of traders or dealers. Your details go out to that network, and somebody else decides what to offer you.

Owners who type buy my caravan into Google are usually after one thing: certainty about who they are dealing with. We bought 150 caravans last year, from owners across the North West and well beyond. If you want caravan buyers who give you a straight figure and stand behind it, that is the whole of our offer.

We buy your caravan. We do not sell your details.

Three routes are open to you when you sell. They are not the same thing, and the difference usually shows up after you have already handed over your phone number.

  Samco Online buying service Auction
Who actually buys it We do Often a trader in their network Whoever bids highest that day
Where your details go They stay with us May be passed to several buyers Your caravan is listed publicly
How the price is set Inspected in person by our own valuer Often a desk estimate, revised on collection Unknown until the hammer falls
When you are paid On collection Varies — ask before you commit After the sale, less fees
Fees to you None Usually none — check Check the entry fee and commission
Somewhere you can visit Bayley Street, Stalybridge Usually no premises On sale days

None of that makes an online caravan buying service a bad choice. Some are perfectly good. It does mean you should ask one question before you fill in any form: are you the company buying my caravan, or are you passing me on? We are happy to be asked it.

How selling your caravan to us works

Three steps, no showroom visit needed, and nothing committed until you say yes.

Step One

Send us the details

Make, model, year, berth and layout, plus photos inside and out. Flag any damage — it rarely costs as much as owners fear, and hiding it wastes everybody’s day.

Step Two

We make you an offer

A figure comes back from us, usually the same day, held for seven days under our price promise. No pressure, and no call from a third party you have never heard of.

Step Three

We collect and pay

Collection is arranged around you, free within 150 miles of Stalybridge. Payment is made by bank transfer on collection, before the caravan leaves.

What we buy, and what we don't

“We buy any caravan” is a phrase every buyer in this trade uses, and almost nobody puts limits on it. Here are ours, in plain English, so you are not left guessing.

Yes, we buy

  • All the main makes — Bailey, Swift, Elddis, Coachman, Lunar, Sterling, Sprite and Eriba
  • Motorhomes and campervan conversions, including Auto-Trail, VW, Ford, Citroen and Vauxhall
  • Two, four, five and six berth tourers, single and twin axle
  • Caravans with damp — we will show you the meter reading rather than price around it
  • Caravans you bought somewhere else, from any dealer or private seller

Questions from caravan owners selling to us

Who buys caravans?

Three kinds of buyer exist. Dealers buy for their own forecourt. Online buying services often place your caravan with a network of traders. Private buyers come through the classifieds. Samco is the first kind — we buy for stock, which is why we can give you a figure on the spot and pay it on collection.

Do you buy any caravan?

Almost — we buy any caravan we can prepare and sell from our own forecourt. That covers all the main makes, two to six berth, single and twin axle, plus motorhomes and campervan conversions, and caravans with damp. What we will not take is listed above rather than buried. A buyer who claims no limits at all is usually about to find one on your driveway.

How quickly can you pay me?

Payment is made by bank transfer on collection, before your caravan leaves. Most sales complete within a few days of the first enquiry — you send details, we make an offer the same day, and collection is booked around you. Nothing is signed over until the transfer is done.

Do you charge for collection?

No. Collection is free within 150 miles of our yard in Stalybridge, which covers the whole of the North West, Yorkshire, North Wales, the Midlands and up into Cumbria. Beyond that we still buy, and the collection cost is quoted separately so you know it before you decide.

How do I know a caravan buyer is genuine?
Will you buy a caravan I bought elsewhere?

Yes, and most of what we buy was bought somewhere else. It makes no difference to the offer whether you bought it from us, from another dealer, or privately through the small ads. The caravan is valued on what it is and what condition it is in, not on where it came from.

Do you buy caravans with damp?

Yes. Damp is the most common reason owners think their caravan is unsellable, and it rarely is. We take the reading, show it to you, and factor the repair into the figure openly. Under 15% often costs you nothing at all.
