How much is my caravan worth in 2026?

Most used touring caravans on our forecourt today sit between £6,995 and £12,995. A 2011 four-berth with bunk beds sits at the bottom of that range. A 2015 four-berth with a fixed island bed sits at the top. Motorhomes and campervans sit well above that — our current stock runs to £49,995.

Those are retail prices, though, and that is the number owners usually find first. What you are offered is a different figure, because a dealer carries the preparation, the warranty and the months of forecourt space. The gap between the two is the whole reason this page exists.

Four things move your figure more than anything else: age, layout, damp readings and service history. Get a free valuation and we will put a real number against all four, usually the same day.

Your caravan has three values, not one

Most valuation sites give you a single number, because most of them only do one thing. We buy outright, we sell on your behalf, and we take caravans in part exchange. So the same caravan is worth three different figures depending on how you want to sell it.

What happens We buy it from you and it becomes our stock It sits on our forecourt and we sell it for you Its value comes off a caravan or motorhome you buy from us
What you get Trade figure, paid in full Sale price less commission An allowance against the balance to change
Money in your account On collection Once the sale completes On the day you swap

Best if You want it gone and paid for this week You want the highest figure and can wait You are upgrading, or moving to a motorhome

Brokerage usually returns more than an outright sale. It also takes longer, because you are waiting for a buyer rather than being paid on collection. Commission depends on the caravan and the asking price, so we agree it with you before anything is listed.

Which route suits you is a conversation, not a form. Ring us and we will tell you straight which one your caravan is better off on.

How a Samco caravan valuation works

No showroom visit is needed to get started, and nothing is committed until you say so.

Step One

Tell us what you have

Make, model, year, berth and layout. Add photos of the interior, the exterior and any damage. Two minutes on a phone is enough.

Step Two

We come back with figures

You get a purchase figure and, where it makes sense, a brokerage estimate. Usually the same day. Your quote is then held for seven days under our price promise.

Step Three

We collect and pay

Collection is arranged at a time that suits you, free within 150 miles of Stalybridge. Payment is made by bank transfer on collection.

Where does a caravan valuation come from now Glass's Guide has gone?

There has been no live trade price guide for caravans since 1 January 2025. On that date Glass’s withdrew both GlassNet Caravan and the Digital Caravan Guide, and pulled leisure vehicle data out of its remaining products. The NCC covered the withdrawal at the time.

What Glass’s still sells is an archive: a set of PDFs with figures frozen at October 2024. Useful for specification. Not a current market price.

This matters because a good number of caravan valuation websites still tell owners their figure comes from Glass’s Guide. Some of those pages were updated this year. A valuation drawn from a guide that stopped updating in 2024 is not a 2026 valuation.

What affects your caravan's value

These are the eight things we weigh on every valuation. Two caravans built the same year can be thousands apart because of them.

Damp

The single biggest swing factor. A meter reading under 15% is generally acceptable. Anything at 20% or above points to active water ingress, and once the wall panel starts to delaminate the repair cost comes straight off the figure.

Age and model year

Depreciation is steepest in the first three years, then it flattens. A tidy ten-year-old tourer holds a steady market. A discontinued range dips faster than one still in production.

Layout and berth

Layout often beats age. Fixed island beds and end washrooms sell fastest, French beds are steady, and bunk beds move only in family season. A four-berth with a fixed bed outsells a five-berth without one.

Service and habitation history

A stamped book and a recent habitation check remove the buyer’s biggest doubt. Servicing at an AWS workshop carries more weight than a receipt from a mobile engineer with no scheme membership.

Weights and payload

MTPLM is the fully loaded legal limit; MiRO is the unladen weight; payload is the gap between them. A generous payload widens your buyer pool, because more towcars can stay inside the 85% guideline.

Equipment fitted

A working motor mover is the one extra that reliably adds money — commonly {{CLIENT TO CONFIRM: £700–£1,200}} on the achievable price. AL-KO ATC stability control, solar and Alde wet heating all help. Awnings and televisions rarely do.

Paperwork

The CRIS document proves the caravan is yours to sell. Without it, a sale is slower and the offer is lower, because the buyer carries the risk. Handbooks, keys and receipts all count for more than owners expect.

Timing

Demand climbs from February and holds through the summer. Autumn and winter are quieter, so private sellers wait longer for a buyer. We buy year round at a current figure either way.

What we actually check when we value your caravan

Most valuation sites list factors. Here is the physical job, in the order a valuer works through it, so you know exactly what your figure is based on.

  • Damp meter round every window surround, the front locker seams, the wardrobe base and the corners of the washroom. Readings are taken at height and at floor level, because ingress travels down.
  • Bed boxes lifted and the floor pressed by hand at the shower tray and just inside the door. A soft spot underfoot is the classic sign of long-term water ingress and it changes the figure more than any cosmetic fault.
  • Chassis number checked against the CRIS document. It is usually etched on a window and stamped on the A-frame. A mismatch stops the valuation until it is resolved.
  • Motor mover run on both wheels, forwards and back. Movers commonly fail on one side only, and an owner who has always parked on a driveway may never have noticed.
  • Heating and fridge tested properly — Alde or Truma fired up from cold, fridge run on all three power sources. A fridge that only works on mains is a common fault.
  • Tyre date codes read, not just the tread. Caravan tyres usually time out long before they wear out, and a set of five-year-old tyres is a cost the next owner inherits.
  • AL-KO hitch and stabiliser pads inspected, along with the corner steadies and the handbrake travel.
  • Service history read end to end, looking for gaps rather than stamps.

Caravan valuation questions, answered

How much is my caravan worth?

Your caravan is worth what its make, model, year, layout, damp readings and service history say it is worth. On our forecourt today, used tourers run from £6,995 for a 2011 four-berth with bunks up to £12,995 for a 2015 four-berth with a fixed island bed. A purchase figure sits below retail. Send us the details and we will give you a real number, usually the same day.

How do you value a caravan?

We inspect it, then price it against what comparable caravans have actually sold for. A damp meter goes round every window surround, the front locker seams and the wardrobe base. Bed boxes are lifted and the floor is pressed at the shower tray. The chassis number is checked against the CRIS document, the mover is run on both wheels, and the heating and fridge are tested from cold.

Is a caravan valuation free?

Yes. Our caravan valuation is free, with no obligation to sell and no charge if you decide against it. There is no fee for collection either, within 150 miles of Stalybridge. You are not signed up to anything by asking what your caravan is worth, and we do not chase people who choose to keep caravanning.

How long is my valuation valid for?

Your quote is held for seven days under our price promise. That is time to talk it over at home or to compare us against another buyer, and it is short enough that the figure still reflects the market when you accept it. If the caravan is as described on collection, the figure does not change. Take longer than a week and we will simply refresh it — there is no penalty for thinking about it.
