The short answer

Who buys caravans near me in Greater Manchester?

Samco Caravans are touring caravan buyers trading from Bayley Street, Stalybridge, and we pay for what we buy ourselves. If you searched for caravan buyers near me, you have found the buyer, not a website that passes your details on. Every route we offer starts on our sell my caravan page.

The valuation is free, and so is collection anywhere in Greater Manchester. Payment is made by bank transfer before your caravan is towed away, and nothing is signed over until the money has landed.

Would you rather chase a retail price, or trade up to another caravan? Sale or return and part exchange are both compared further down.

The process

How do I sell my caravan near me, step by step?

Three things happen between your first message and money in the bank, and you can stop at any point without paying a penny.

01

Send us the details

Make, model, year, berth, layout and photos inside and out. Flag any damage or damp you know of.

02

We inspect and offer

You get a purchase figure and, if it suits, a sale or return estimate. There is no charge if you decline.

03

We collect and pay

Collection is booked around you. Payment is made by bank transfer before your caravan leaves.

Compare the routes

Sell it to us, let us broker it, or sell privately?

Selling to us is the quickest route, brokerage usually returns more, and a private sale leaves every viewing and payment check with you.

When you're paid On collection, by bank transfer After it sells, less commission When your buyer's money clears

Trading up instead of cashing out? Our caravan part exchange takes yours against anything in stock, and our sale or return page explains brokerage in full.

Six checks

What do caravan valuers check on your driveway?

Our valuer works the same checklist on every caravan and shows you each damp reading. Want a guide figure first? Value my caravan online.

Damp readings

A meter goes round window surrounds, locker seams, the wardrobe base and washroom corners. Under 15% is usually fine; 20% or more means water ingress.

Floor and bed boxes

Bed boxes are lifted and the floor is pressed by the door and shower tray, where a soft, spongy feel shows long-term ingress.

Chassis number and CRiS

The chassis number on the window etch and A-frame must match your CRiS document, the national record that proves the caravan is yours to sell.

Motor mover and heating

The motor mover is run on both wheels, both ways. Heating and fridge are tested from cold, the fridge on all three power sources.

Tyres, hitch and steadies

Tyre date codes are read, then the AL-KO stabiliser hitch, its friction pads, the corner steadies and handbrake travel are checked.

History and weights

Stamped books and habitation checks add value. MTPLM (maximum loaded weight) and payload decide which tow cars, and so which buyers, it suits.

Areas we collect from

Where in Greater Manchester do you collect from?

We collect from all ten Greater Manchester boroughs: Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. Our yard is in Stalybridge, in Tameside, two miles from Ashton-under-Lyne town centre and just off the M60.

Wigan, the furthest town in the table, is 29 miles and about 43 minutes away by car. Collection is booked around you, so you never have to tow the caravan anywhere yourself.

Collection day

What happens when we come to collect?

Handing over a caravan worth thousands to someone you met online is the part most sellers worry about. This is how we keep it safe for you.

  • You see every damp reading. The meter is shown to you on the day, and any repair cost is built into the offer rather than used as a reason to walk away.
  • The money moves first. Payment is made by bank transfer before your caravan leaves, and nothing is signed over until it has landed in your account.
  • Your details stay with us. Samco is the buyer, so your name and number are not passed to traders or other buyers.
  • Nothing comes out of your pocket. No fees, and no charge for collection anywhere in Greater Manchester.

Rather talk it through first? Ring 0161 464 0109, or bring the caravan to Bayley Street and have it looked at while you wait.

Questions owners ask

Selling a caravan in Greater Manchester: questions

Do you buy caravans for cash in Greater Manchester?

Yes, Samco buys touring caravans outright across Greater Manchester and pays by bank transfer before the caravan leaves. Cash for caravans today means a transfer rather than notes, which protects both sides. Ask any used caravan buyers you speak to when the money lands; ours arrives before handover.

How quickly can I sell my caravan in Manchester?

Most sales with Samco complete within a few days of the first enquiry, depending on when you can be there for collection. If you searched "sell my caravan fast" for a reason, say so in your message and we will plan the inspection and collection around your date.

Will you buy my caravan if it has damp?

Yes, Samco buys caravans with damp across Greater Manchester, and you see every meter reading on the day. Repair cost is built into the offer rather than used as a reason to walk away. The free valuation includes a caravan damp test, so you get the figures whether you sell or not.

Can I part exchange my caravan for a motorhome?

Yes, Samco takes caravans in part exchange against any caravan, motorhome or campervan in our Stalybridge stock. The trade-in value comes off the price of the one you choose, and you pay the difference.

Can you sell my caravan for me on sale or return?

Yes, Samco sells caravans on sale or return, also called consignment or brokerage, from our Stalybridge forecourt. Your caravan is priced at retail and stays yours until it sells. Commission is agreed with you before it is listed, so you know the figure from the start.

Do you buy static caravans or scrap caravans?

No, Samco buys touring caravans only, so static caravans, holiday homes and scrap caravans are outside what we take. Older tourers, any berth and single or twin axle are all considered, and our we buy any caravan page sets out the detail.

Can I sell my caravan if there is finance outstanding?

Yes. The outstanding balance is settled with the finance company out of the sale, and the rest comes to you. If you owe more than the caravan is worth, the shortfall has to be covered as part of the deal, so ask your lender for a settlement figure before you call.

Can I get a caravan valuation in Manchester without a visit?

Yes, Samco gives phone and photo valuations as a range, and the firm figure follows once the damp readings are confirmed in person. An online price-guide figure is a starting point, not the amount that reaches your bank.

Where is the best place to sell my caravan near me in the North West?

A dealer with premises you can visit is the safest place to sell a caravan in the North West, and Samco buys across the region from Stalybridge. Collection anywhere in Greater Manchester is free; from further afield, give us your postcode and we will tell you what collection involves.
