The straight answer

Who buys touring caravans in Yorkshire?

Samco Caravans buys touring caravans from owners right across Yorkshire, and every route we offer starts on our sell my caravan page. We aren't on a Yorkshire industrial estate: our yard is on Bayley Street, Stalybridge, just over the Pennines, and we come to you.

The valuation is free, and so is collection anywhere within 150 miles of the yard, which takes in every town in the table below. Payment goes by bank transfer before your caravan is towed away, and nothing is signed over until the money has landed.

Worried yours is too old? Some buyers only want tourers a few years old. We buy touring caravans of all ages and conditions, single or twin axle, from 2 to 6 berth.

How it works

How do I sell my caravan in Yorkshire, step by step?

Three steps take you from first message to money in the bank, and you can walk away at any point without paying a penny.

01

Tell us what you have

Send the make, model, year, berth and layout with photos inside and out, plus any damp you know of.

02

We inspect, then offer

Usually a same-day range from photos; the firm figure follows the damp readings. Held 30 days.

03

We collect, you're paid

We tow it from your drive, storage yard or campsite. The bank transfer lands before it leaves.

Three ways to sell

Should you sell to us, broker it or go private?

Selling outright to us is quickest, sale or return aims for a retail price, and a private sale leaves every viewing and payment check to you.

What we look at

What does a caravan valuation in Yorkshire involve?

We work through the same six checks on every caravan and show you each reading. Want a guide figure first? Value my caravan online.

Damp meter readings

Readings go round window frames, front locker seams, the wardrobe base and washroom corners. Under 15% is generally fine; 20%+ means water ingress.

Floor and bed boxes

We lift the bed boxes and press the floor at the door and shower tray. A soft, spongy patch points to water that has been getting in for a while.

Chassis number vs CRiS

The 17-digit chassis number on the A-frame or window etch has to match your CRiS document before we can buy the caravan.

Motor mover and heating

We run the mover on both wheels in both directions, then test the heating and fridge from cold, the fridge on all three power sources.

Tyres, hitch and steadies

We read the tyre date codes, as tyres should be replaced at five years, then check the AL-KO hitch, friction pads, steadies and handbrake.

Service history and weights

Stamped service books and habitation checks add value. MTPLM and payload decide which tow cars, and so which buyers, your caravan suits.

Where we collect

Which parts of Yorkshire do you collect from?

We collect across West, South, North and East Yorkshire, and every owner gets the same valuation, the same 30-day offer and the same free collection. Huddersfield is the nearest town in the table at 20 miles; Bridlington, on the coast, is the furthest at 112.

Every town listed sits inside our 150-mile free collection radius from Stalybridge. Caravan kept somewhere else, such as a storage yard in the Dales or a seasonal pitch on the coast? Send us the postcode and we'll confirm collection before you commit.

On collection day

What happens when we collect your caravan?

Handing your caravan to a buyer who has driven over the Pennines is a big step. Here is how we keep collection day straightforward.

  • You see the readings. The damp meter is shown to you on the day, and any repair cost is built into the offer rather than used as a reason to walk away.
  • Money first, then the keys. The bank transfer goes before your caravan leaves, and nothing is signed over until it is in your account.
  • Have the paperwork ready. That means the CRiS document, keys, service book, habitation records and receipts for extras such as a motor mover or solar panel.
  • Nothing comes out of your pocket. No fees on an outright sale, and no charge to collect from any town in the table above.

Want to talk it through first? Ring 0161 464 0109, Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm or Saturday 8am to 1pm.

After we buy

What happens to your caravan after we buy it?

Every caravan we buy is prepared in our own workshop and resold from Stalybridge. Here are three on the forecourt today.

Questions Yorkshire owners ask

Selling a caravan in Yorkshire: your questions

Do you buy caravans for cash in Yorkshire?

Yes, Samco buys touring caravans outright across Yorkshire and pays by bank transfer before the caravan leaves. That is how cash for caravans works now: a transfer you can watch land in your account, rather than notes counted out on a driveway.

Do you buy and collect caravans in Hull and East Yorkshire?

Yes, Samco buys and collects caravans in Hull and East Yorkshire for free. Hull is about 97 miles from our Stalybridge yard and Bridlington about 112, both inside our 150-mile collection radius. Collection is booked for a day you can be there.

Can I get a caravan valuation in Leeds, Sheffield or Bradford?

Yes, Samco values caravans in Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford and the rest of Yorkshire, starting with a price range from your photos. The firm figure follows once we have taken damp readings in person. An online price guide is a starting point, not the amount that reaches your bank.

Will you buy my caravan if it has damp?

Yes, Samco buys caravans with damp from Yorkshire owners, and you see every meter reading on the day. The repair cost is built into the offer rather than used as a reason to walk away, so you know exactly why the figure is what it is.

Is my caravan too old to sell to you?

No, Samco buys touring caravans of all ages and conditions, so an older tourer from anywhere in Yorkshire is still worth a valuation. Age, layout, damp and service history all shape the figure, and we explain how each one affected yours.

How quickly can I sell my caravan in Yorkshire?

Most sales with Samco complete within a few days of the first enquiry, and the inspection visit is arranged within 7 days. In practice the pace is set by when you can be at the caravan for collection.

Can you sell my caravan for me on sale or return?

Yes, Samco offers sale or return, also called brokerage, for Yorkshire owners from our Stalybridge forecourt. Your caravan is priced at retail and stays yours until it sells. We'll talk you through the terms when we value your caravan.

Do you buy static caravans or holiday homes on Yorkshire parks?

No, Samco buys touring caravans only, so static caravans, holiday homes and scrap caravans on Yorkshire parks are outside what we take. Touring caravans of any berth, single or twin axle, are all considered, and our we buy any caravan page sets out the detail.

Can I sell my caravan if there is finance outstanding?

Yes, Samco can buy a caravan with outstanding finance: the balance is settled with your lender from the sale and the rest comes to you. If you owe more than the caravan is worth, the shortfall has to be covered, so ask your lender for a settlement figure first.
