Tell us the make, model and year, and the town where it's kept. We'll reply with a price.
Please note: we don't buy static caravans or continental brands (e.g. Hobby, Tabbert), and we don't offer a standalone transport, collection or delivery service.
Samco Caravans covers the North East from our yard on Bayley Street, Stalybridge, buying touring caravans from owners between Darlington, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and South Shields. We're on the far side of the Pennines, so the valuer and the collection travel to you, and every route begins on our sell my caravan page.
You pay nothing for the valuation, and nothing to have the caravan collected from Teesside, County Durham, Sunderland or Newcastle, as the table further down shows. Our bank transfer reaches your account before anyone hitches up, and no ownership changes hands until you can see the money.
Does a buyer more than two hours away mean a weaker deal? No. The six checks, the 30-day offer and the payment terms are exactly the same on a drive in Hartlepool as they are on our own forecourt.
Getting from your first enquiry to a paid-for caravan takes three steps, and the long drive from Stalybridge is ours to make, not yours.
Make, model and year, its berth and layout, and photos of the interior and exterior. Flag any damp.
A price range from your photos first, then a visit within 7 days to firm it up. Held 30 days.
Collection is booked around you, and the bank transfer reaches you before the caravan goes anywhere.
Selling outright to us is the quickest of the three, sale or return chases a forecourt price, and a private sale puts every viewing on your drive.
| What matters to you | We buy it outright | Sale or return with us | You sell privately |
|---|---|---|---|
| When the money arrives | Before we tow it away | After a buyer pays for it | When your buyer's transfer clears |
| What price to expect | Trade price after inspection | Retail price at Stalybridge | Whatever you agree with a buyer |
| Cost to you | Nothing within 150 miles | Talked through at valuation | Advert fees and your time |
| Who shows it to buyers | Nobody, it's sold to us | We do, on our forecourt | You, at home or in storage |
| Who owns it meanwhile | Ours once you're paid | Yours until it sells | Yours until you're paid |
| How long it takes | Usually a few days | Depends on demand | Depends on demand |
Would you rather trade up than cash in? With a caravan part exchange, yours goes against any caravan, motorhome or campervan we have in stock. Brokerage is covered on the caravan sale or return page, and we'll talk you through the terms when we value your caravan.
Our valuer works through six checks wherever your caravan is kept, showing you every damp reading. For a rough number first, use our value my caravan page.
The meter goes high and low round windows, the front locker, wardrobe floor and washroom corners. Below 15% is generally fine; 20%+ is water ingress.
Bed boxes come up and the floor is pressed inside the door and around the shower tray. Boards that give underfoot point to long-term water ingress.
We read the 17-digit chassis number from the window etch and A-frame and check it against your CRiS document, the proof it's yours to sell.
We drive the motor mover forwards and back on both wheels. From cold, we fire up the heating and run the fridge on gas, 12V and mains.
Tyre date codes are read first, because tyres are due for renewal at five years. The AL-KO stabiliser, its pads, the steadies and handbrake follow.
A stamped service book and habitation checks lift the price. The MTPLM and payload settle which tow cars can pull it, and so who buys it next.
Free collection covers Teesside, County Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead and Newcastle, because every one of those towns sits within 150 road miles of our yard. Darlington and Stockton-on-Tees are the nearest at 112 miles; South Shields is the furthest free town at 146.
Beyond Newcastle, Hexham and Whitley Bay fall just past 150 miles, with Morpeth, Alnwick and Berwick further on. We still buy there: give us the postcode and we'll quote for collection before you agree to anything.

Nearby areas we collect from: if your caravan is stored south of the Tees, our page for caravan buyers in Yorkshire covers Harrogate, York and Hull, and owners west of the Pennines can sell your caravan in Cumbria.
When a buyer has driven over two hours to reach you, payment and paperwork should be settled before anyone touches the hitch. Here's how the day runs.
Prefer a conversation before any of this? Call 0161 464 0109; we're open 8am to 4:30pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Every caravan we buy goes through our Stalybridge workshop before it's resold. Three in stock now, from a 2003 four-berth to a 2017 island bed.
Yes, Samco buys UK-built touring caravans of any age and condition in Newcastle, County Durham and Teesside, single or twin axle, 2 to 6 berth. Static caravans, holiday homes, scrap caravans and continental makes are outside what we buy; our we buy any caravan page has the detail.
Yes, Samco values caravans in Newcastle and across the North East from photos, giving you a price range, often the same day. The firm figure follows a visit to your caravan within 7 days, once the damp readings have been taken in person.
Yes, Samco collects free from Darlington, Durham and every Teesside town, as all of them sit within 150 miles of our Stalybridge yard. Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and South Shields are free as well. From Whitley Bay and Hexham northwards, collection is quoted before you commit.
Yes, Samco buys North East caravans with damp, and you watch each meter reading being taken. The repair cost is priced into the offer, so a high reading changes the figure instead of ending the conversation. Our guide to damp caravan value explains the sums.
No, Samco buys touring caravans of every age from North East owners, and older models are part of our stock: a 2003 Coachman Amara is on our forecourt now. Age changes the price we offer, not whether we make one.
Most sales to Samco from Newcastle and the rest of the North East are finished a few days after the first enquiry. The inspection visit is arranged within 7 days and collection is booked around your dates, so mention any deadline, such as a storage renewal.
Yes, Samco offers sale or return from our Stalybridge forecourt, so a North East caravan comes to our yard and stays yours until a buyer pays for it. We'll talk you through the terms when we value your caravan.
No, Samco only buys touring caravans, so statics and holiday homes on parks along the Northumberland and Durham coast are outside what we take. We don't buy scrap caravans either.
Yes, Samco buys North East caravans with finance outstanding and settles the balance with your lender from the sale, paying the rest to you. Where the finance is more than the caravan's value, that gap has to be met, so get a settlement figure from your lender first.
Send the details from anywhere in the North East and you'll have a price to think over, held for 30 days.
